Bedtime Burnout
Some kids need a little extra movement before they can settle down for sleep. Bedtime Burnout is a collection of 33 playful activities designed to help kids get their wiggles out before bedtime through jumping, balancing, crawling, stretching, rolling, and imaginative play.
Each activity is only a few minutes long and uses simple household items like pillows, pool noodles, blankets, tape, balls, balloons, or stuffed animals. One night your child might leap over a “lava” island, balance like royalty, race through a tunnel, defend a hockey goal, or become a cozy bedtime burrito. Another night they might finish with calming activities like deep breathing, gentle pressure, or relaxing stretches to help transition from active play to rest.
The activities encourage balance, coordination, body awareness, listening skills, and family interaction while making bedtime feel less like a battle and more like a fun routine everyone looks forward to.
Perfect for preschoolers and early elementary kids, Bedtime Burnout gives families an easy, screen-free way to burn off energy, laugh together, and create a calmer path to bedtime, because sometimes the best way to help kids slow down is to let them move first.
